HOW TO UNFOLLOW PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE
For a Time...
For those of us who don’t believe in throwing people out of our lives completely — if you need to remove someone from your daily life, for a time...it’s ok. It doesn’t mean you don’t love them, it doesn’t mean you don’t sometimes enjoy their company and will want to be around them again sometime in the future. It means some people are so toxic that they consume all our energy. If we need time away to work on ourselves, gain strength and heal, it’s ok.
I have experienced this myself. I was on anti-depressants for a long time, when I removed someone who was depleting my energy from my life for a time, I was able to get off the medication. Toxic people can have that much affect on us, we don’t really know it until they aren’t there anymore. You will know when you are ready to let them back in - if you choose to - just make sure you let them in with clearly set boundaries, let them know the topics that are off the table, let them know that you may take a break or leave for a time if you are feeling uncomfortable or overwhelmed, let them know your needs, and stand firm for them. It may be hard at first to set your boundaries and stand firm, but it may also be what it takes for you to finally begin to take control of your life, and heal. You can do it. 🙂.
