Creative Kids Life & Study Skills Tutoring
An exclusive 4-week program, 4 hours of personalized tutoring including child’s option of between session emails.* This 4-week program specifically created to support highly creative and/or highly sensitive students ages 8-18, is centered around the growth-mindset book "My Big Life Journal." Using a supportive and positive approach, the tutor Abbey, a successful and passionate entrepreneur, teen artist, character designer, animator, writer and aspiring cartoon creator — guides children, tweens and teens on a path to self-discovery and a growth-mindset; building self-esteem, resilience, positive thinking and a “smarter-not-harder” organizational, study and goal setting skill set. The tutoring program supports students in discovery and utilization of their inherent strengths and passions to overcome obstacles that may be interfering with their ability to enjoy and succeed in their academics and other life pursuits.
Creative children may especially benefit from an informative and supportive tutoring program. Studies have shown that for creative minds, enjoyment and motivation in life and learning increases, when academic pursuits are tied to their interests, or to something of personal importance to the student. A life and study skills tutor can support students in making this important connection. In addition, highly creative people have been found to possess an inherently sensitive social/emotional makeup, that when misunderstood or left unsupported, may lead to struggles with anxiety and other social, emotional and academic challenges. In actuality, the high sensitivity (HSP/HSC) associated with creatives — is a part of the creative-gift, but many days for creative children, it can feel like anything but. Many highly creative or sensitive children struggle to manage their own time, schedules, study and other academic responsibilities. Having a mentor or tutor who understands...and who has through experience found time-tested tools for success, can be extremely helpful to children just starting out on their own social, emotional and academic journey.

About The Tutor
Abbey has learned so much through her own childhood experiences, personal challenges and triumphs, and her journey of self discover and self acceptance; the severe emotional bullying that ended in an emotional breakdown and having to leave public school half way through 4th grade, and...by just growing up “different,” for Abbey — homeschooled/unschooled, gifted, highly sensitive and highly creative. Abbey remembers back when she was in school when life seemed overwhelming and she didn’t always fit it, wishing she knew someone like her, someone she could talk to who would understand. Now an adult, Abbey’s hope is that through tutoring she can not only be that friend to other kids looking for someone who understands, but also share with them her personal experience and insight, and the valuable tools she has collected along the way; time-tested social/emotional and sensory sensitivity copying skills, the keys to utilizing a personalized study skill set, and a more positive — growth-mindset outlook on life and learning.
To teach others the positive, growth-mindset techniques she uses in her own life, Abbey utilizes “My Big Life Journal,” a book especially made for helping kids and teens gain a positive self-image, study, organization and goal setting techniques, and a growth-mindset that will help them to keep moving forward toward their goals and dreams. The book teaches through positive and encouraging language, clever illustrations and activities especially made to engage creatives, as well as primarily visual and kinesthetic learners. Pages/activities in the journal are assigned each week to be read at home by the child, review and discussion with the tutor occurs in the 1st part of every session. The 2nd part of each session will include an activity chosen by the child, and may include, art, character design or animation instruction, an art or crafting project (in-person only), or creativity sharing; including sharing of personal art, writings and ideas. *Emails between sessions will be answered within a 24-48 hr period.
