Study Skills Tutoring
Is your child struggling to keep up with their homeschooling routine? Do they exhibit signs of anxiety or school-avoidance? Are they struggling with or avoiding homework, class projects or social situations? Do they need help staying focused, organized and motivated?
At Life, Love & Parenting we teach students how to study smarter not harder. Our Growth-Mindset Study Skills Tutoring aims to provide each student with an enhanced view of their own inherent strengths, as well as avenues to success in areas of struggle, and personalized study, organizational and social/emotional skill sets.
Our program is designed to help students who may be struggling in all subjects or specific subject areas, as well as students dealing with anxiety, sensory sensitivities and intensities, disorganization, procrastination and motivational issues. Gifted students, and students who have ADD/ADHD or a learning disorder, can greatly benefit from this program. Our tutoring program focuses in on the different types of learners; the students habits, struggles, and mind-set, to help students gain a more positive, growth-mindset outlook toward learning, to find and utilize emotional and sensory sensitivity coping strategies, and to enhance communication skills, study and organizational habits.
The tutoring program begins with assessments to help identify a student’s strengths and areas of struggle in a variety of academic, social/emotional and sensory areas. Using this insight, we are able to suggest strategies, curriculum and enrichment opportunities specifically tailored to the way your student learns best. In addition to the student assessments, the person/parent who provides primary homeschool instruction will also complete the communication style assessment. By assessing the primary homeschool instructor’s communication style along side of the student, we are able to identify similarities and differences that may be affecting the students academic outlook, focus, study habits, learning and motivation.
With each student we tutor we are working toward the goal of helping the student to find interest and enjoyment in their homeschool routine, and to ultimately become a life-long lover of learning. We aim to provide the student with a personalized and enhanced study skill set, improved child/parent/homeschool instructor connection, increased self-esteem and internal-motivation, and greater academic and life success.
