Private Beginning Character Design Class (ART) Grades 3 — 12 (Only offered as a remote class at this time.) This is a private and personalized class for one student and the instructor. Students will bring along to the class their own tablet with the Sketchbook Pro app installed, to receive instruction in digital character art and design basics, support in exploring techniques and concepts, and turning personal ideas and interests into original characters. Traditional drawing, design and instruction may also be utilized in class instruction. (Non-Charter members please use black button below for class sign up.) Programs and future classes may be customized to support an ongoing animation project of the child's choosing, progressing towards exploring more complex aspects of the animation process. Abbey is a gifted and passionate teen character designer, animator, writer, and aspiring cartoon creator! She possesses and applies a unique set of positive, growth-mindset and artistic approaches to life and creativity, a result of her own inherent and imaginatively-creative mind, her fall and successful recovery from the effects of severe-emotional-bullying, and growing up “different,” for Abbey a homeschooled/unschooled, gifted, highly sensitive, highly imaginative and creative child. She is primarily a self-driven and self-taught artist, writer and animator, but has benefitted from a variety of professional instructors and classes as part of her homeschooling experience over the last 10 years. Abbey has developed over 100 of her own original characters, she has at least 6 animated series ideas in planning starring her own characters and stories, with growth-mindset and social/emotional lessons interwoven in, to help kids gain an understanding of their own unique gifts, as well as social/emotional and family-dynamic challenges. Abbey’s primary artistic project at this time is continuing work on an Animatic (Animated Story Board) for her main cartoon series in planning “The12YearMind.” Now 19 and graduated from High School, Abbey is excited to be sharing her unique life experiences, talents and passion with other children, tweens and teens — by offering beginning Character Design and Tablet Animation classes, and a Creative Kids Life & Study Skills Tutoring program. She is also an entrepreneur and has started her own online business creating caricature style Pet Portraits — she gives 20% of all proceeds to the animal rescue she volunteers for in her hometown.
